2015 Digital Signage Expo (DSE)

At this year's DSE, I was excited to check out new technologies that will impact our media business in months and years to come. Not only was I interested in the latest software suites, programmatic buying platforms and mobile technologies but anything that got the creative juices flowing.
What I learned is that the two main topics, programmatic buying and mobile technology still have much to be desired, but there are platforms on the way. In particular, Ayuda released a solution that allows for direct online buying that gives the buyer the flexibility to bid and purchase on demand as well as the seller to set price limits as to keep pricing integrity entact...which is certainly a concern for ad supported digital signage operators. Mobile seems to be slow though, with a much needed solution to create a second screen experience.
Overall, there wasn't significant progress in digital technology this year but progress nontheless. More importantly, I was able to meet some industry veterans that will be colleagues for years to come. Bell Media has so much to learn as we expand our business and these personal connections will pay dividends as we grow.
